I. Introduction:
Guangzhou-style ball valves are divided into one-piece, two-piece and three-piece types. The valve body is cast using advanced technology introduced from Taiwan, featuring a reasonable structure and beautiful appearance. The valve seat adopts an elastic sealing structure, ensuring reliable sealing and smooth operation. The valve stem adopts a bottom-loading structure with reverse sealing, so that the valve stem will not be pushed out even if there is abnormal pressure rise in the valve cavity. A 90° opening and closing positioning mechanism can be installed, and a lock can be added as needed to prevent misoperation. Guangzhou-style ball valves are suitable for various pipelines with PN1.0～4.0MPa, operating temperature of -29～180℃ (with reinforced polytetrafluoroethylene as the sealing ring) or -29～300℃ (with polyphenylene sulfide as the sealing ring), used to cut off or connect the medium in the pipeline. By selecting different materials, they can be applied to various media such as water, steam, oil, nitric acid, acetic acid, etc.
II. Product Features:
(1) Small fluid resistance, full-bore ball valves have almost no flow resistance.
(2) Simple structure, small size and light weight.
(3) Tight and reliable. It has two sealing surfaces, and currently various plastics are widely used as the sealing surface materials for ball valves, ensuring good sealing performance and achieving complete sealing. It has also been widely used in vacuum systems.
(4) Convenient operation, rapid opening and closing, only requiring a 90° rotation from fully open to fully closed, facilitating remote control.
(5) Easy maintenance, the ball valve has a simple structure, the sealing rings are generally movable, making disassembly and replacement relatively convenient.
(6) When fully open or fully closed, the sealing surfaces of the ball and valve seat are isolated from the medium, so the medium passing through will not cause erosion to the valve sealing surfaces.
(7) Wide application range, with bore sizes ranging from a few millimeters to several meters, applicable from high vacuum to high pressure.
(8) Since ball valves have a wiping action during the opening and closing process, they can be used for media containing suspended solid particles.
III. Working Principle:
1. Opening Process
a. In the closed position, the ball is subjected to [wiki] mechanical [/wiki] pressure from the valve stem, tightly pressed against the valve seat.
b. When the handwheel is rotated counterclockwise, the valve stem moves in the opposite direction, and the angular plane at its bottom disengages the ball from the valve seat.
c. The valve stem continues to lift and interacts with the guide pin in the spiral groove of the valve stem, causing the ball to start rotating without friction.
d. Until reaching the fully open position, the valve stem lifts to the limit position, and the ball rotates to the fully open position.
2. Closing Process
a. When closing, rotate the handle clockwise, the valve stem starts to descend, causing the ball to leave the valve seat and begin to rotate.
b. Continue rotating the handwheel, the valve stem is acted upon by the guide pin embedded in its spiral groove, causing the valve stem and the ball to rotate 90° simultaneously.
c. When nearly closed, the ball has rotated 90° without contact with the valve seat.
d. During the last few turns of the handwheel, the angular plane at the bottom of the valve stem mechanically wedges and presses the ball, forcing it to tightly press against the valve seat to achieve complete sealing.
