I. Introduction:
The X45W four-way plug valve is a lift-type plug valve available in multiple structural forms. Lift-type plug valves are divided into two types based on the material of their sealing surfaces: soft-sealed and hard-sealed. The basic principle is that during opening, the plug rises, and then rotates 90 degrees to the fully open position, reducing friction with the valve body sealing surface; during closing, the plug rotates 90 degrees to the closed position and then descends to contact the valve body sealing surface to achieve sealing. Soft-sealed plug valves are commonly used in harsh environments such as corrosive, highly toxic, and high-hazard media, in occasions requiring strict leakage prevention, and in scenarios where the valve material will not contaminate the medium. The valve body of the X45W four-way plug valve can be made of carbon steel, alloy steel, or stainless steel, selected according to the working medium. Three-way and four-way plug valves are suitable for occasions where the medium flow direction needs to be changed or medium distribution is required in Shanghai Gong's equipment. Depending on the operating conditions, soft-sealed sleeves or soft-sealed/hard-sealed lift-type plug valves can be selected.
II. Selection Principles:
1. For medium distribution and changing medium flow direction, when the working temperature is not higher than 300°C, nominal pressure PN ≤ 1.6MPa, and nominal diameter not more than 300mm, multi-way plug valves are recommended.
2. For equipment and pipelines in food enterprises such as milk, juice, beer, and pharmaceutical factories, tightly clamped conical plug valves made of austenitic stainless steel are recommended.
3. For oilfield exploitation, natural gas field exploitation, branch pipelines for transportation, refining, and cleaning equipment, when the nominal pressure class is not more than Class 300 and nominal diameter not more than 300mm, oil-lubricated conical plug valves are recommended.
4. For oilfield exploitation, natural gas exploitation, branch pipelines for transportation, refining, and cleaning equipment, when the nominal pressure class is not more than Class 7500, nominal diameter not more than 900mm, and working temperature not higher than 340°C, oil-lubricated conical plug valves are recommended.
5. In large chemical industries, in pipelines and equipment containing corrosive media, and in occasions requiring fast opening or closing, for nitric acid-based media, conical plug valves with polytetrafluoroethylene sleeve seals can be selected; for acetic acid-based media, conical plug valves with Crl8Nil 2M02Ti stainless steel inlaid polytetrafluoroethylene sleeve seals can be selected.
6. In pipelines and equipment of gas, natural gas, and HVAC systems, when the nominal diameter is not more than 200mm, packed conical plug valves are suitable.
III. Installation:
1. Ensure the valve is in the open state. First, heat the pipeline. Transfer as much heat as possible from the pipeline to the plug valve. Avoid prolonging the heating time of the plug valve itself.
2. Use gauze or steel wire brushes to clean the pipeline and cutting parts until their metal surfaces shine. It is not recommended to use steel wool.
3. Cut the pipeline vertically first, then trim, remove burrs, and measure the pipe diameter.
4. Apply flux on the outside of the pipeline and the inside of the welding shroud. The flux must completely cover the welding surfaces. Use the flux sparingly.
