YJ-0614D Automatic Drug Droplet Determinator

This instrument is applicable to the Method 1 for Drop Point Determination 0614: Electric Block Air Heating Method specified in the 2025 edition of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia, i.e., the temperature at which the first drop of liquid drips from the grease cup under specified standard conditions. It is specially applicable to test samples such as medicinal greases (white petrolatum, yellow petrolatum), part of edible waxes (e.g., palm wax), grease additives; lubricating greases, paraffin wax, microcrystalline wax, beeswax (for cosmetics), pharmaceutical preparations (e.g., suppositories), synthetic waxes (resin wax, rosin wax), ointment bases (hydrocarbon bases); emulsion bases (combination of glyceryl stearate), other semi-solid bases (base materials for ointments and salves), suppository bases (synthetic glycerin fatty acid esters); cosmetic raw materials for lipstick bases (mixture of beeswax and ozokerite), etc. This automatic instrument also meets the standards of ASTM (D3204, D3461, D3954, D6090), DIN (51920), ISO 4625-2, the European Pharmacopoeia, and SH0678.

I. Main Functions and Features of the YJ-0614D Automatic Drug Drop Point Tester

1. Heating Furnace Structure: The heating furnace includes a heating body with a built-in heating sheet and a platinum resistance sensor; the middle hollow slot is the sample chamber for placing the sample testing assembly, which includes a grease cup clamp, a grease cup filled with sample, and a grease cup slit below. There is a light source below the heating body, which emits light through the slit holes of the slit sleeve and onto the signal sensor. When the sample softens and drips to block the light hole, the signal sensor sends a signal, and the instrument records the temperature.

2. Sample Testing Assembly: The middle is the grease cup for placing the sample; the upper part is the clamp for clamping the upper end of the grease cup and connecting the handle; the lower part is the slit sleeve for passing light and catching the dripping sample when the drop point is reached.

3. Inspection of the Assembly's Slit Sleeve: Enter the main interface, click the "Test" button, set the preset temperature to no more than 40°C, click the "Auto Detection" button to enter the automatic test interface.

4. Place the empty grease cup sample assembly vertically into the furnace sample chamber, align the lower observation port of the slit sleeve to the front, and make the furnace light-transmitting hole and the slit sleeve light-transmitting hole parallel to ensure that the detection hole can transmit light.

5. This instrument is easy to operate, automatically controls temperature, and automatically generates results.

Method 1 is used for the determination of easily pulverized solid drugs

(2) Electric Block Air Heating Method

An automatic or semi-automatic drop point tester is used.

Take an appropriate amount of the test sample that has been dried (see Method 1 (1)), place it in the metal grease cup for drop point determination (same as in Method 1 (1)); heat the drop point tester until it is about 10°C lower than the specified lower limit of the drop point, insert the metal grease cup containing the test sample into the heating block, continue heating, adjust the heating rate to 1.0-1.5°C per minute, repeat the determination 3 times. If the difference between the drop points measured in the 3 determinations is not more than 1°C, take the average value as the result.
