BYK-054 defoamer can be applied in solvent-free and solvent-based coating systems, particularly suitable for solvent-free polyurethane and epoxy resin floors, as it prevents bubbles and pinholes. The effect on varnish transparency should be checked.
BYK-054 defoamer is also suitable for defoaming coil coatings based on polyvinyl chloride plastisols.
BYK-054 additive is recommended for use in industrial coatings, coil coatings, can coatings, architectural coatings, protective coating systems, and more.
Recommended dosage of BYK-054 defoamer: 0.1-1% of the additive (as supplied) based on the total formulation.
Addition method and processing guidance for BYK-054 defoamer: To achieve optimal defoaming, the defoamer should be added to the grinding material. If incorporated at a later stage, sufficient shear force must be ensured to achieve good distribution of the defoamer and prevent crater formation.
