II. Main Uses

Glacial acetic acid is one of the important organic acids. It is primarily used in the production of vinyl acetate, acetic anhydride, cellulose acetate, acetate esters, and metal acetates. It also serves as a solvent and raw material in industries such as pesticides, pharmaceuticals, and dyes. It has extensive applications in the manufacturing of photographic chemicals, textile dyeing, and the rubber industry. Glacial acetic acid is a crucial organic chemical raw material and holds significant importance in the organic chemical industry.

Acetic acid is widely used in synthetic fibers, coatings, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, food additives, dyeing, weaving, and other industries, making it an essential component of the national economy. Glacial acetic acid is categorized into industrial and food grades based on its use. Food-grade glacial acetic acid can be used as an acidulant and flavor enhancer. It is used to produce synthetic vinegar. By diluting acetic acid with water to a concentration of 4–5% and adding various flavoring agents, edible vinegar is obtained. It can be diluted to produce soft drinks, cold beverages, candies, baked goods, puddings, gummed sweets, condiments, and more. As an acidulant, it is used in beverages, canned goods, and other products.
