This instrument is applicable to the Method 1: Electric Heating Block Air Heating Method for Drop Point Determination in the 2025 edition of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia 0614. That is, under specified standard conditions, the temperature at which the first drop of liquid drips from the grease cup. It is specially applicable to test samples such as medicinal oils (white petrolatum, yellow petrolatum), some edible waxes (such as palm wax), oil additives; lubricating grease, paraffin wax, microcrystalline wax, beeswax (for cosmetics), pharmaceutical preparations (such as suppositories), synthetic (resin wax, rosin wax), ointment bases (hydrocarbon bases); emulsion bases (combination of glyceryl stearate), other semi-solid bases (base materials for ointments and salves), suppository bases (synthetic glycerol fatty acid esters); cosmetic raw materials, lipstick bases (mixture of beeswax and ozokerite), etc.
I. Main Functions and Features of the YJ-0614D Automatic Drug Drop Point Tester
1. Structure of the Heating Furnace: The heating furnace includes a heating body with a built-in heating sheet and a platinum resistance sensor; the middle hollow slot is the sample chamber, used to place the sample testing assembly, which includes a grease cup chuck, a grease cup filled with the sample, and a grease cup slit at the lower part. There is a light source below the heating body, which emits light that passes through the slit hole of the slit sleeve and shines on the signal sensor. When the sample softens and drips to block the light hole, the signal sensor sends a signal, and the instrument records the temperature.
2. Sample Testing Assembly: In the middle is the grease cup for placing the sample; above is the chuck for clamping the upper end of the grease cup and connecting the handle; below is the slit sleeve for allowing light to pass through and catching the dripped sample when the drop point is reached.
3. Inspection of the Assembly's Slit Sleeve: Enter the main interface, click the "Test" button, set the preset temperature to no more than 40°C, click the "Automatic Detection" button to enter the automatic test interface.
4. Place the empty grease cup sample assembly vertically into the furnace sample chamber, align the lower observation port of the slit sleeve to face directly forward, and make the light transmission hole of the furnace parallel to the light transmission hole of the slit sleeve to ensure that the detection hole can transmit light.
5. This instrument is easy to operate, automatically controls the temperature, and automatically generates results.

III. Relevant Provisions of Method 2: Electric Heating Block Air Heating Method for Drop Point Determination (0614) in the 2025 Edition of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia
Method 1 is used for the determination of easily pulverized solid drugs
(2) Electric Heating Block Air Heating Method
An automatic or semi-automatic drop point tester is used.
Take an appropriate amount of test sample that has been dried (see Method 1 (1) for details), place it in a metal grease cup for drop point determination (same as in Method 1 (1)); heat the drop point tester until it is about 10°C lower than the specified lower limit of the drop point, insert the grease cup containing the test sample into the heating block, continue heating, adjust the heating rate to 1.0-1.5°C per minute, repeat the determination 3 times. The difference between the drop points measured in the 3 determinations shall not exceed 1°C, and the average value shall be taken as the result.
