Because the carboxymethyl-hydroxethyl cellulose (CMHEC) is a kind of combined anther that contains both ionic and non-ionic bases, crboxymethyl and hydroxyethyl, it is endued with ionic and non-ionic features. It gives solutions which the single above cellulose can not gave and plays dual roles of carboxymethyl and hydroyethyl cellulose for there exist both carboxymethyl and hydroxyethyl bases in the dehydrated glucose monomer.
