Cutting fluid is an industrial liquid used in metal cutting and grinding processes to cool and lubricate cutting tools and workpieces. It is formulated by scientifically compounding multiple high-performance additives, and has excellent cooling, lubrication, rust prevention, oil removal and cleaning, corrosion prevention, and easy dilution properties.
When adding cutting fluid to machine tools, workers should first conduct an appearance inspection, including checking the color and odor of the cutting fluid, which can directly reflect the basic condition of the cutting fluid. Then, use a refractometer to test the concentration of the cutting fluid. An appropriate concentration ensures that the cutting fluid provides good lubrication and cooling effects. It is recommended to test once a day (using the refractometer method). Based on concentration recommendations, the working concentration should not be lower than the lower limit of the recommended concentration range. The concentration of the replenishing fluid is determined according to the actual on-site working concentration, generally half of the recommended working concentration. Then, monitor the pH value of the cutting fluid using pH test strips to control the degree of pH change; a sudden and significant change in pH usually indicates changes in other properties of the cutting fluid. It is necessary to test at least once a week (using pH test strips); the pH value should be maintained between 8.5 and 9.5. A decrease in pH usually indicates bacterial growth in the cutting fluid and a decline in rust prevention performance.
